Multi-function, Multi-Touch Magic MousePad is a Delight for the Eyes and Fingers

If you are ready to give multi-touch a try, there's a Magic MousePad on the way that may be just cool enough to get you to finally make the purchase. It's essentially a Multi-Touch pad; this not so new feature is popping up everywhere and is almost standard on laptop's and most modern OS's. Windows 7 and Apple computers benefit greatly from their addition when coupled with a decent touchpad or touchscreen. The Magic MousePad is a little more than just a touchpad it has a handful of business function as well. It has a full 10-key number pad printed on the touch sensitive area. Clicking a mode button switches it from a touchpad to a number pad.
While off, the Magic MousePad has a mirror finish, but once you power up the backlight makes the controls and numerals visible. It has a red, blue and a red+blue backlight to control the 3 functions. This touchpad is actually very similar to the one included with a recent keyboard from Eclipse. They've also squeezed in a volume control that's also lighted and touch sensitive. The only thing they really missed the boat on is not using the standard keypad layout. Perhaps this is a regional thing that locale based versions will address. That aside, if the price is reasonable this could be a really cool looking way to gain an appreciation for MultiTouch without breaking the bank on a new laptop.
