Sony Ericsson Android App Channel Goes Live

Sony Ericsson, today, announced an exclusive Android App channel in the Market that will allow users to download apps created by Sony or its partners.  Many signature Sony apps are available such as Timescape plug-ins, LiveView Apps.  There will also be some exclusive game content, according to Sony.  The new channel will be pushed out on a by-carrier basis, but if you have a Sony Ericsson phone chances are you’ll be seeing this new channel before other people.
Sony’s Xperia line of phones, most notably the Xperia Play, have their own app store where users can download PlayStation style games.  The new channel is a good idea though, as its much easier than developing a whole new app store for users to find and download.  It still offers developers a place to showcase their apps, and should be a good place to find more games to use with your Xperia play.  The new channel will also be a boon for LiveView, as it will offer a better place to find apps for the watch accessory.  It remains to be seen, now, whether other companies will follow suit and start up their own app channels to put their offerings up on the Market.
